Organic September is currently taking place. At the beginning of the month I mentioned Sainbury’s deal on organic food but at the time I had no idea that there was a whole month worth of activity happening.
Today I received an email from Coconoil. The makers of the organic coconut oil I use with a special offer for organic September of £2.00 off per jar. You can go to coconoil.co.uk to find out more about that.
So what else is happening?
Organic September Events
Stoke Newington Market at St Pauls Church, Stoke Newington Road, London N16 7UY is the place to visit for all things organic, biodynamic (no idea what that is but will look it up) and wild. On Saturday 20th September Oisin Hanrahan will be selling local honey made in Upper Clapton. The market will also be on, on 27th September 10am-2.30pm
I will be in London on the 27th so I may go and take a visit.
There is also a Whole Foods Market at 32-40 Stoke Newington Church Street N16 0LU on 19 September from 11.30-2.30pm. The Whole Foods Market is located in the heart of Stoke Newington, just a 5-minute walk from Stoke Newington rail station, or 5 minutes by bus from either Dalston Kingsland or Dalston Junction overground stations. Although there is a bus strike planned for the 19th so walk instead 🙂
Brain Food Masterclass. Veronique, a Naturopath at Organic Burst, will teach you about the right foods to eat to ensure your body and mind work effectively. That is part of Whole Foods Market in Clapham Junction SW11 1LN
Greenwich Pantry – greenwichpantry.com – will be sharing organic recipes all month and encouraging people to share their favourite on Facebook
Wholefood Shop Action Network is running an event called GMO OMG (Love it!) from September 16- October 16 2014 to raise awareness of GMO crops being pushed into our food system. You have to spell the words out large and creatively. Find out more at http://www.wholefoodaction.org.uk/
Most of the Whole Food shops I found are in London. Camden, Clapham Junction, Fulham, Kensington, Piccadilly Circus, Richmond and Stoke Newington.
My Organic September celebration
Okay. I don’t have one planned for this year. I only just found out about it. Maybe I’ll just get together with another juicer and raise a glass of organic vegetable juice to organic September.
For 2015 it would be great to run an organic September event in Bedfordshire to celebrate organic juicing and food. Let people know it is more accessible than they think.
I don’t buy everything organic. My budget doesn’t currently stretch to that but even small changes. Like buying organic carrots instead of conventional ones is a start. I think education is the key to helping people understand the difference and the importance.
Organic September is being run by the Soil Association. There are a few events on around the UK so take a look. There are different money off offers on organic clothing, food, juices and more.
